Here are some issues to keep in mind when looking to purchase and choose a memorial.
Cemetery Regulations - Your cemetery regulates what type of memorial you may select. It would be best to know this before we find you something you decide on and then you cannot use it.
Types of MemorialsFlush Marker - These are flush to the grass for flush cemeteries.
Bevel Markers - They have a bevel to help water and debris wash off. They tend to be smaller and less expensive.
Slant Marker - Better than a bevel as rain, sap, and debris wash off. As you search for your memorial, you will be able to see it from a distance rather than having to look directly down at the stone. It does not ice over in the winter.
Monuments - Lettering is at 90 degrees to faling rain, snow, tree sap, and lawn mowing clippings.
Benches - These are used for cremation interments and sitting. Nice to sit on during visits. Can be used in memorial gardens in non-cemetery settings. If you move, it can be shipped with you.
It would be best if nothing ever was deposited on your lettering and engravings.
Driving mowers and trucks over stones is not good.
Try to select a burial sight away from roads so snowplows and trucks are not near your memorial.
Trees are nice but create sap and old oaks drop big branches. Let someone else be right next to the tree.
